Dear Altus school family:

Altus Public Schools and Altus Police Department received reports of a rumor being passed among students of a possible threat.  All students at all campuses are safe and no credible threat was found.

School resource officers and the Altus Police Department were on campus this morning and students were escorted through the school’s Open Gate weapon detection system and an investigation was conducted.  Again, no credible threat was found.   Students have resumed a normal school day.

It is vital to the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and our community that we all work together to ensure Bulldog safety.  One way parents and guardians can help is by discussing the importance of NOT sharing rumors with other students.  The best action is to report anything suspicious to a trusted adult.

We are thankful to the Altus Police Department for their constant support.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with the school office for assistance.

Bulldogs, thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Roe Worbes

Superintendent
