Amanda Davis

Dr. Teara Flagg Lander a 2004 graduate of Altus High School, currently serves as the Assistant Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion for the University of Oklahoma.  While at Altus High School, Teara was a member of JROTC, That Altus Band, and choir.  Mr. Thomas Hanes, Mr. Andrew Freeman, Mrs. Patti Ray, Ms. Janice Pellam, and Mrs. Crozier are all teachers who Dr. Lander remembers as being supportive and encouraging especially as developed leadership skills. 

As the Assistant Vice President for the Norman campus, Teara Flagg Lander engages with faculty, staff, and students to create a more inclusive environment for all members of the OU community. She received a bachelor of arts with a major in political science from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master of education with a focus on higher education administration from the University of Oklahoma. She earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership with an emphasis in higher education from Kansas State University. Additionally, she holds two graduate certificates in qualitative research methods and social justice education also from Kansas State University.

Of education, Dr. Lander says, “You’re responsible for your own education and that really is the fun part because the opportunity to learn is always around you. Always remember you truly can do anything you put your mind to.”

Dr. Landers is passionate about increasing cultural awareness and providing educational access to people who want to continue their education. In her leisure time, she enjoys being with her family, traveling, and reading.
