Welcome to Altus Primary School!  We are looking forward to the opportunity to work with your child.  The faculty and staff are dedicated to providing a positive educational experience for all our students.  Our wish is that we can help your child to excel to his/her greatest potential.

We have a well-rounded curriculum with emphasis in the areas of reading and math to maximize the educational achievements of our students.  We implement the Response to Interventions process at our school.  RTI (Response to Interventions) is about matching student's needs with high quality researched based educational practices and interventions in measuring student progress and performance to make the best educational decisions for all students.  We have seen a lot of reading progress made by using this process with our students each school year.

Instruction is enhanced through the use of desktop computers in our computer lab, one-to-one iPads in the classroom and internet access throughout our school.  We also provide virtual school in grades one and two to families that this fits better.

We believe that your child's educational experience will be enhanced if parents/guardians become actively involved in your child's educational and school.  I would like to invite you to become an active volunteer, room parent, and/or attend Parent Teacher Conferences.  The best way to assist your student is to read with them at least twenty minutes daily.  Your participation will play an important role in your child's educational career.
